Amazon.com Product Description
This Yogitoes Skidless premium yoga towel is the only towel created specifically to prevent slipping while practicing yoga. The towel works intuitively: simply place the side with the silicone eco nubs face down on the yoga mat or low-pile carpet. Once you distribute your weight in a yoga posture, the eco nubs start gripping the mat, thus keeping your hands or feet from slipping in mid-stretch. The towel's 80 percent polyester and 20 percent nylon material, meanwhile, is super absorbent, thus putting a hygienic layer between you and your exercise equipment. The towel, which is machine-washable and dryer-safe (it's designed to dry fast), measures 24 by 68 inches.

Customer Reviews

Pretty useful piece of equipment/ misleading advertisement of features. (2008-08-24)
I think that a lot of these complaints I read about disappointments with the towel stem from the price.

I hesitated before buying this towel because of the price, but I bought it because I knew that the rubber sticky mat just wasn't working for me. This towel is suited for the sweaty among us.

I do wish that the price would buy a more perfect product (i.e. no dye bleeding, a slightly more terry cloth texture, and smaller tighter stitching at the edges). However, I realize now after getting comfortable with using this piece of equipment that the marketing is more to blame for any initial disappointment I felt. Read on brave athletes.

It may be possible to machine wash this towel as the care instructions suggest, but I'd rather not. The towel comes in an assortment of attractive colors so that everyone can find the one they want to buy, but it turns out that dye bleeding is the downside to this feature. You may choose to buy the white towel. Care instructions suggest this towel is dryer safe, but someone here mentioned that the dryer ruined the towel's original texture. Avoid the dryer, towel.

Pretty useful piece of equipment/ misleading advertisement of features.

I've skimmed the reviews here for some care tips for this product.

Here's what I have to say about using this towel myself-

It definitely solves my problem of my sweaty hands and feet slipping on a rubber sticky mat. However, dry hands and feet will slip on this towel. Therefore, I have wet hands and feet, or I dampen the towel.

I feel bad for the person whose washing machine unraveled the stitching at the edge of the towel. The stitching is large and loopy. This stitching could snag in the machine, so I hand wash mine to protect my investment in this piece of equipment. I bet that using a sewing machine to restitch the edge will create a more durable securing, but I'd rather delay the hassle of doing that sewing. I'll hand wash.

It does bleed dye when I soak it for a wash. I tried someone's suggestion that I add a couple of tablespoons of vinegar to the cold wash water. I saw that no dye seemed to leech out into the water in my sink. I rinsed the towel under a cold shower and squeezed it out. The towel was cool and damp when I used it. Actually I found this pleasant. Don't I read as chilled out?

However, the next time I soaked the towel (no vinegar this time) it bled dye once again.

It's no disaster, really. I'll just wash it in vinegar solution and rinse it in a cold shower.

The best non slip device ever (2008-08-21)
I have tried everything from changing mats multiple times, mat cleaners, non slip gloves to straps and blankets to stop from slipping in down dog and this is the only thing that has worked. It works best when wet, so spritzing the towel down before your practice is ideal. It has definitely let me concentrate on poses more and intensified my practice. I highly recommend if you find you slip a lot.

2 stars because... (2008-08-19)
Why do you exercise? I do bikram yoga to become healthier.
However, I am so concerned about getting skin cancer from this towel-dye because almost half naked while exercising yoga. In spite of instruction indicated that wash twice before using, after almost more than 20 times of washing...stell bleeding.(I own copper and teal towel.)
This is unbelievable!!!!!!

Who want to buy, knowing this fact????

Therefore, 2 stars because of this bleeding problem!!

If you agree to this as well but want to pruchase it, I recommend you get a white towel. Other than this rpoblem, it is an excellent towel, especially for bikram yoga.

An overpriced shmata. (2008-08-18)
Having slip-slided through vinyasa and ashtanga classes for nearly 10 years, this product looked like the answer to my prayers. Until I tried it. And experienced it flip up and kink with every jump back. If you must try this, spray it down with water before you begin to practice, so you get more traction. Or fold it up at the front of your mat and pull it out when you're sweating up a storm. It will not "stick" unless it's damp. I repeat, it must be damp! Never use fabric softener with it, it will render it useless. Downy completely obliterates the traction. Expect the stitching to unravel when you wash it...even if you wash it on cold in the gentle cycle. Another piece of advice, get the white...unless you have time to wash it separately in cold every time you use it (which is inconvenient if you practice more than once a week, which you probably do if you're considering this). The color runs and fades and, over time, you'll find you have to wash it in hot to really sanitize it. In which case, the dot on the front will crack and peel. I've given up the yogitoes and replaced it with a good, old fashioned towel. I also sometimes use the hand-towel sized yogitoes...that one is pretty good. Overall, just bring a towel that hasn't been washed in fabric softener and skip this thing. Particularly if you do vinyasa or ashtanga. Yogitoes is good in theory, but not practice.

Works well for me at yoga class (2008-08-17)
I go to yoga classes often and I hate carrying my mat around, b/c it is awkward to carry. However, the towel can just be folded up and thrown in my bag. It makes it so easy.
