Essential Home Gym Equipment (2008-10-22)
Buy this if you work out at home--it is essential. A utility bench is also essential (but the Powertec bench is overpriced--look at your local sporting goods store or on craigslist for a bench).
I purchased this in 10/2008 for $499 (w/ free shipping). It arrived within a week.
I love it. The rack is totally solid, and was easy to assemble. I was sold on this rack because of the dip bars and pull-up bars--and they are better than I imagined. The dip bars are angled and can be attached in either direction (pointing in or out) so you can do wide dips or triceps dips regardless of your size. After working out with a makeshift home gym for over a year (sawhorses, doing dips on ladders) this rack has changed everything--I am already lifting much heavier weight just knowing that the rack is there to catch if I fail.
Seriously--if you work out at home, buy this. It will change your life and save you from injury.
Solid Rack (2008-09-05)
I had been waiting for the price to drop down to $349 like some reviewers had noted but I ended up buying it at $499 anyway for my birthday. I received it well before the estimated date. It weighs over 200 pounds but it was shipped in two long but compact boxes making it easier to handle.
The assembly was very easy. I put it together by myself although it would be easier with a helper. The rack feels very solid and I am very pleased with it so far. One of the main reasons I purchased it compared to the alternatives was the pullup bar, but I was pleasantly surprised that it had dip bar attachments as well.
Overall, I am extremely pleased with my purchase so far. I look forward to lifting big and lifting safe!
Great rack for the money (2008-05-05)
I'm so please with this rack. I lift alone (my girlfriend won't get up at 6 a.m. to spot me!) so the security of a rack is great. I feel the quality for the money is spot-on. They powder coat could be thicker but I'm not in a show room so why do I care? Also, it's not like I'm careless and banging weights around everywhere.
Assembly was simple and I did it alone.
I purchased the lat tower option and must say I'm pleased with it as well. My instructions only had an exploded view (I don't know if they come with the step by step instructions) but I still figured it out in about an hour total. The pulley system is simple and not convoluted. One of the pulleys was crushed in shipping but I called on Monday and had it replaced for free in three days. Great support!
I paid $349.99 for each shipped to my house in bfe so it was a super deal. The next day the price was at $499. I still think it's worth the money for the rack.
Excellent value - Very pleased with rack (2008-04-27)
I purchased this rack and am VERY PLEASED with it. It was very straight forward to assemble - I did it solo. Seems very solid.
I really like the dip bars. They are well thought out and taper inward, so you can find the width that works best for you. Very stable also.
The chin bar is also good. If you are heavy or add weight on the chins, you may want to have the bar with a little weight on it to avoid any slight forward motion of the rack. Has not been a problem for me yet - but only doing body weight chins so far.
The frame and spotting pins are very solid.
Another benefit was the height of this unit. It is a little more compact - and shorter - than many units. That helped it fit better in my small (townhouse) garage.
Very pleased with this purchase.
Best Lifting Deal Ever. (2008-04-18)
Purchased for $349 with free super saver shipping. This is an awesome piece of equipment with incredible quality, even at twice the price. Dip and pull-up bars included which saves space and money. If you add the high low pully, matching utility bench, barbell & weight, and a set of dumbells you suddenly have a very respectable hard-core gym. The grey baked on paint is prone to scraping when moving the spotting arms, but the scratches are silver, so hardly noticable. Still, this is the best power rack for the money-a steal at $349 shipped!
